The River Café on the Tyne is owned by Paul Scott and Michelle Dickie and is one of only two restaurants in the North of the region - and one of only five in the North East - to have made its mark on the foodie scene and earned itself a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand Award for the fifth year in succession. The Bib Gourmands category is awarded to restaurants offering good food at competitive prices, with a maximum of £28 for three courses. Head Chef Christopher Wilson, holds a reputation for attention to detail, sourcing the best ingredients and freshest locally sourced produce cooked well, but at a reasonable price. Front-of-House Paul and his partner Michelle have a wealth of experience in North East restaurants including Terry Laybourne's award- winning 21 Queen Street and Terry's Cafe 21 at Darras Hall. The restaurant was awarded two AA rosettes and then within 12 months of opening had been voted Café of the Year by the Observer Magazine.
